stories of the 5k

hey all

here's one account (of what i hope will be many) of the goings on at the 5k, as told by Kayla Montambault - july session counselor....

so soo many july counselors showed up to help out which was awesome. we all got there early: i got there at 7, but some were there even earlier, and then the race was at 10. i wasn't expecting a ton of people to show up, just because it's the first year we did it (I'm hoping it's going to become an annual thing it was so cool) but there were soo many people! which is why i considered it a total success :) I was working at the registration table and it was just so hectic because of the sheer number of people who wanted to run. so there were tons of people, everyone was really nice and wanting to run and make donations and support the camp so it was really awesome!! and one of the campers from august camp ran the entire 5K with brent which was really exciting. i don't know his name though you'll have to get that information from someone else though because it was really cool :)

the camper who finished the 5k was an august camper named mike d. he got a standing ovation as he crossed the finish line. nice job, michael! way to go!!

there was also a Vineyard Sound concert at the end of the race, which i am told was incredible. All in all, it sounds like a very successful day! Please folks, send more of your thoughts and stories about the 5k. those of us who couldn't be there with the runners/walkers/wheelers love to hear it so we feel like we were there!

thanks, kayla for sharing!

jabberwocky love,
faith
